Just finished reading Time Management for System Administrators by Thomas A. S previous path translation management system required users to manually define translation mappings at submission time. Time Management for System Administrators looks like its going to break the cycle. I work for a trucking company myself and while I do not have trouble with getting the funds into the systems (for the most part), I am expected to install it all and manage it all, which becomes quite a task. Take the more recent example of Anthony Almodovar, a system administrator (and fellow SpiceHead) with Smith Trucking. System administrators spend time validating the design and implementation and then must provide appropriate monitoring and management. Time management for system administrators deals with focus, prioritisation and a simple-but-effective system of managing requests (I use a variation on this system to manage my daily and ongoing workload). I highly recommend this book to every System and Network Administrator. I bought it yesterday at Digital Guru (their last copy) on my way to the colo in San Jose. He takes his time to present his time management technique and explain why and how it works. The other half of the book is spent imparting his wisdom from almost 25 years of system administration.
